About Us

Richard is the primary counsellor at Threshold Counselling. He has studied a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Gender Studies and Sociology, and has a Masters of Counselling. He has years of experience supporting the trans and gender diverse community. He has been a peer support worker, a disability support worker, a case worker, and a support coordinator.

Richard believes that one of the gifts of counselling is deeply compassionate self-awareness, self-knowledge and recognition of the skills and insights that we already have. He brings a non-pathologising approach to therapy and has experienced how important the therapeutic relationship can be for healing.

Richard has been involved in advising the Central and Eastern Sydney Public Health Network on developing the lived experience peer workforce and strategies to support people experiencing life interrupting mental health challenges.
